Happy Holidays Near Eastsiders!

Hopefully everyone gets a chance to spend some time with family, friends, and/or loved ones during the holidays this year!  Since next Tuesday is Christmas day there will be no newsletter.


Homestead Verification

If you haven’t already done so…

Just a friendly reminder to file the “Pink” Homestead Verification Form or risk losing your homestead deduction beginning in 2013.  All Homeowners claiming the Homestead Tax Exemption have until 1/1/2013 to file the Homestead Verification Form that was mailed with tax bills for the past three years.  The form only needs to be filed once before the deadline, but failure to file by the deadline could result in costly property tax adjustments for homeowners.  Here is a link to a recent IBJ article outlining the history and details:


FOCUS Facade Program

The 2013 application for the FOCUS Façade program is now available! It is both attached to this email and available on the FOCUS website, Please forward liberally to others and encourage many to apply. The deadline for applications is January 25, 2013. Awards should be announced by the end of March, 2013.

Indy Greenways Master Plan Project Office

Do you have thoughts or ideas about the direction of Indy’s Greenways? Does your organization or neighborhood group have information to share? Indy Parks has opened a project office specifically for the Indy Greenways Master Plan. We encourage you to stop by the office and share your ideas or discuss issues with the project planners. The office is located at Boulevard Station, the former rail depot at the intersection of the Monon Trail and 38th Street. The office is open on Wednesdays from 8:30-4:30. Stop by any time during those hours. You can also schedule an appointment by sending an email to . The project office is just one of many ways you can provide feedback and direction to the plan. We encourage you to get involved!

IMCPL – Library News

The Indianapolis Colts are joining The Indianapolis Public Library to promote using your library card during the “COLTSTRONG, LIBRARYSTRONG” campaign through December 31. The campaign seeks to increase awareness about the many ways a library card can be used to take advantage of the free resources of the public library.

IMCPL – Holiday Closing Hours

All library locations will be closed on Sunday, December 23, Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday, except the InfoZone which will be open on December 23 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on December 24 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Additionally, all library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Monday December 31 and will remain closed on Tuesday, January 1 for the New Year’s holiday, except the InfoZone which will be open on January 1 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  More information:
